What is the definition of a coach? A coach motivates and engages with athletes to teach and improve their sporting skills. A coach is passionate and looks to develop not only the athlete but also the person.
One of the coaches is Romelo Jamero. His swimming journey started in High School as a member of his varsity swim team, which paved the way for him to pursue a career in coaching.
Romleo has coached and instructed in Philippines, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, and Hong Kong. He has gained valuable experience and an extensive aquatic background through the years.
Taking on all the experience he has gained, Romelo has opened 4th Lane Swim School.
Inspired by his former company, 4th Lane Swim Academy, the swim school is based in Davao City, Phillippines, and aims to teach year-round structured swim lessons. He hopes to develop competitive swimmers who are technique-oriented and will eventually compete nationally and internationally.
To continue growing and provide swimmers with the best instruction, all swim coaches and instructors must be qualified. At 4th Lane Swim School, coaches and instructors are qualified and trained in ASCA, Red Cross, and Jeff Ellis Swimming.
Romelo has grand ambitions for his swim school. They are currently operating in two major cities in the region. He wants to expand to 5 major cities in the next five years and aims to provide a structured learn-to-swim program.
As Romelo looks back on his swimming journey and the future, the most rewarding part of coaching is to be respected by parents and the swimming community. He believes that as coaches and teachers, we strongly influence the molding and development of young people into great swimmers and great people.
Nice to see you Coach Romelo 😉
