Having the Hong Kong Rugby 7s back was fantastic. The opportunity to watch world-class athletes and rugby players do what they love with great skill is a joy to watch.
One thing that has always fascinated me when watching 7’s is players' ability to run at speed, beat players with good footwork, and change direction with such fluency.
Looking more into sports training, I found that many athletes from a wide range of sports train Speed, Agility, and Quickness (SAQ). This type of training has long been associated with sports training.
What is Speed, Agility, and Quickness? Or SAQ, as it's known among sports professionals
Speed is the velocity of movement in a given direction, Agility is to run at speed in multiple directions while maintaining speed and posture, and Quickness is the ability to react to a stimulus or change in body direction.
You may think that Speed Agility and Quickness training is only for elite-level athletes, but that can be far from the truth.
Speed Agility and Quickness training is an excellent components that can be implemented in youth sports or fitness programs.
Speed, Agility, and Quickness training can improve acceleration, coordination, balance, and motor skills in youth sports. Each of these skills can improve and build a strong athleticism foundation.
