The Terry Fox Run or Marathon of Hope, is a non-competitive charity event that was inspired by Terry Fox.
Having lost his right leg to Cancer at the age of 19, Terry set out to run across Canada to create awareness and raise funds for Cancer research.
In April 1980 Terry set out on his run, covering 5373 km in 143 days, with a specialized prosthetic leg before being forced to stop, by the only thing that would stop him. Terry died of Cancer in June 1981.
Having inspired millions of people around the world, two of our very own Discovery Bay residents, Sean and Jessica Inkin, took part in the Terry Fox Run on Saturday.
This father and daughter duo ran this race to honor Cancer patients world wide. But their motivation and inspiration is one close to heart and home.
Luke (Jessica's brother) has been battling Cancer for over ten years, but his resilience, courage, strength and bravery have inspired Sean and Jessica to look up to him and run this race for him.
By running the Terry Fox run, they want to show people that there are many ways you can show support and contribute to Cancer research.
Sean and Jessica, are grateful they can share this moment together and want to encourage you to never take a special moment in your life for granted.
They are hopeful that by doing the Terry Fox Run, they can inspire and bring hope to people's lives. Follow the lovefromluke.bd to follow all the great work they have been doing.
Remember no matter how big or small your contributions may be, as long as you are able to inspire and make a positive difference in someone's life, the better place we will all be in.
