Hyrox Fitness

Updated: Nov 12, 2022

The Hyrox fitness race has been growing in popularity around the world. The fitness race will challenge athletes in every facet of fitness performance, from running, jumping, throwing, pulling, and pushing.

The race is open to all fitness levels with no time limits.

Taking place on an impressive indoor course. The race will be broken into the following eight exercises:

* 1000m Ski Erg

* 50m Sled Push

* 50m Sled Pull

* 80m Broad Jump Burpee

* 1000m Row

* 200m Farmer Carry

* 100m Sandbag Lunges

* 75 or 100 Wall

After the completion of each exercise, athletes will have to complete a 1 km run before starting the next exercise.

The Hong Kong Hyrox race will take place on the 20 November and will be in conjunction with the Health and Fitness Expo.

The race will challenge your physical and mental fortitude, so all athletes must be well-prepared.

Accepting the Challenge are 60 Discovery Bay Residents. Led by DB Dad Bods trainer Andrew Tasker, all participating athletes have trained hard for the event over the last few months as they leave no stone unturned in preparation for the race.

Depending on your fitness level training will be different for each individual. Athletes must build a solid base and foundation and focus on building strength and endurance.

Once you have built your training base you can address your weaknesses. For example, if you are a strong runner you should pay more attention to your strength and functional movement and vice versa. It's important to stick to the basics and avoid technical lifts.

On the 3 September, DB Dad Bods athletes were put through the pace by Hyrox world in a Physical Fitness Test.

The Physical Fitness test was a timed test and consisted of the following:

* 1000m Run

* 50 Broad Jumps Burpees

* 100 Stationary  Lunges

* 1000m Row

* 30 HR Push-ups

* 100 Wall Balls

The Physical Fitness test was an excellent way for athletes to gauge where they are at in their training and give them a little taste of what to expect.

Many of the DB Dad Bods athletes did great job, with many ranking in the Gold and Silver time category, allowing them to enter the Open or Pro Division.

With the race only a week away and athletes reaching the final week of training, we wish them the best of luck and check our social media finds out how the DB Dad Bod athletes did.
