Getting Ready for the New Sports Season

With the new sports season upon us, we are all zoned in and excited for the new challenges the sports season may bring.

Whether you are a seasoned player or a beginner, you are looking forward to getting out there and testing your skills, meeting teammates, developing a team spirit and camaraderie, and hopefully lifting that trophy at the end of the season.

But before you can run out onto that playing field, you must prepare physically and mentally. Preparation before the start of the season will give you a competitive edge and help you improve as the season progresses.

Here are four tips to get you prepared for the season ahead:

Get in Shape:

Being in shape will help you have an easier start to your season. Set yourself training goals and have a workout plan with scheduled training times. You will need to track your training goals and monitor your progress.

You don't need a gym. There are many youtube videos, workout apps, online workouts, and affordable equipment you can buy for home workouts.

Get together with teammates and work out together. Training with teammates will help you stay engaged and motivated, hold each other accountable, and develop great team chemistry and spirit.

Goal Setting:

No matter what level of sport you play, setting goals will keep you motivated and focused.

Your goals will be your road map and a plan of action for the season ahead.

You may want to look at setting individual goals focused and practice and performance or meeting with teammates and coaches on setting team goals.

Having goals will add value and purpose to your new sports season.

Check your Gear:

Before you start the new sports season, make sure you have all the required equipment for your sport.

Try on the equipment you played in last season and make sure it fits, it's safe and in good condition.

If you are new to a particular sport, speak to players and coaches about where would be the best place to buy the equipment you will need.

Buying new equipment can be expensive, so ask your teammates where the best place would be to buy good second-hand equipment or see if your club has an equipment sponsor that can provide a discount on your new equipment.

Get a check-up:

Whether you're a growing teen or adult, our bodies can become fragile due to the changes that may occur.

So it's crucial to get a physical to detect any issues such as healed sports injuries or any underlying issues that you are unaware of and could affect your ability to participate in sport.

Whether you are training by yourself or with a team, make sure to put aside time for recovery and give your body a chance to adapt.

Don't jump into your season head on without preparation this could lead to injuries and lackluster results.

Consider the few pointers above and all the best for your upcoming season.
