In September 2022, the DB Pirates Seniors came together for their annual pre-season training with one goal: to play in the Grand Final and bring back silverware to Discovery Bay.
Playing in Community League 3, the DB Pirates finished 2nd in the table before the Christmas Break and were placed ins the A Division of Community League 3
Having won 1 game and losing 2, they played the Semi Final on Saturday against the Police.
Having played Police and suffering a tough loss, the DB Pirates Seniors were determined to write the wrongs of two weeks ago and turn in a big performance.
The opportunity that waited for them was a place in the Grand Final.
There was a different intensity and build-up to the game. The training was intense, players were vocal, and everyone focused on the Ultimate Goal, the Grand Final.
The team played with cohesion and confidence from the first whistle on Saturday and played PIRATES RUGBY!
Each player lays it all on the line, determined to be in Grand Final.
Scoring well-worked tries and playing solid team defense, the Pirates were well-deserved victors 33-12 and set up a Grand Final showdown against league leaders Discipline Services
If anything this is to go by from the last two games between the two teams, this is sure to be an intense and close-contested final.
The final will take place on Saturday, 11 March, at King Park Rugby Pitch 2.
